Pokemon Legends: Arceus has proven to be a very successful project for Nintendo. The game has become a huge hit among players and the latest data collected over the weekend proves it. In total, Arceus sales have reached over 6.5 million worldwide and the game has become the #1 box office sales game in the UK and takes the title against games like Dying Light 2.
Nintendo of America celebrated its high sales achievement on Twitter last weekend. According to the tweet, more than 6.5 million users have acquired the game.

In continuation, a recent report by Gamesindustry.biz (originally compiled by GFK) shows that Pokemon Legends: Arceus ranks first in the UK boxed charts. All this despite a 72% drop in sales week by week. While this might sound a bit disconcerting seeing how Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl dropped 61% in the second week: it’s worth noting that the second week of both games was the week of Black Friday.
The launch of Pokemon Legends: Arceus was also surprising compared to the last entry in the series despite it being an episodic game. Arceus accounted for nearly half of all packaged game sales last week and is the fourth largest game ever released in Pokémon UK, selling more than Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl last year. In fact, only Alpha Sapphire/Omega Ruby, Sword/Shield, and Sun/Moon have seen this success.
The game that nearly beat Pokémon in the UK boxed sales segment was Dying Light 2: Stay Human. 54% of Dying Light 2’s physical sales in the UK were on PS5, 27% on Xbox and 19% on PS4. Another noteworthy highlight is the return of Mario & Sonic at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, which jumped 263% in sales thanks to retail promotions.
