Biggest gaming news for August 9, 2022

It was a little slow today, but that doesn’t mean there weren’t a lot of great stories to read about. For example, the release date of the third Sonic the Hedgehog movie has been revealed, but we’re waiting a bit, unfortunately.

Aside from that, we also got confirmation that Bridget the latest addition to Guilt Gear Strive is now legally transgender as well as the Elden Ring 1.06 update release, bringing with it tons of decrements and rebalancing. All that and more if you read on.

Sonic 3 will get a release date on December 20, 2024

The team behind the Sonic movie has certainly got them moving as Sonic 3 has been given a release date just four months after the cinematic release of Sonic 2. Unfortunately, there will be some waiting before we see Blue Blur and the gang take on Shadow, as it won’t arrive. Sonic 3 is out in cinemas until December 20, 2024.

Guilty Gear Strive’s Bridget Is Officially Confirmed As Trans

Bridget was recently added to Guilty Gear Strive and the character is now officially confirmed to be a trans. In a scene from Arcade Mode, Bridget discusses her feelings about her identity with Ky and Goldlewis, the first being at a loss as to whether Bridget can be described as a cowgirl or a cowboy. In response, Bridget exclaimed excitedly, “Cowgirl is fine! Because…I’m a girl!” Bridget has been a top mutant for a while due to her backstory, but this scene is the first official confirmation inside or outside the games.

The Elden Ring update changes summoning, conquest and rolling

Updates might not be a big deal for most games, but for Elden Ring, they’re a big hit. Update 1.06 rolled out today, with many fan requests like power-down to the Bloodhound Step and Rivers of Blood. It made minor tweaks to the dribbling mechanics, allowing players with lighter loads to roll a bit farther than heavier players. The last big change relates to summoning, as summoning signals can now be sent to summoning pools in remote regions instead of to those in your character.

MultiVersus may already have surpassed 10 million players

MultiVersus is proving to be so popular right now, that the game may have already passed 10 million players just three weeks after it launched in open beta. Although no official figures have been released by Warner Bros. or developer Player First Games, the tracking site has set the current player base for MultiVersus at 10427136 at the time of writing.

Pokemon: The Arceus Chronicles is coming to Netflix on September 23

A new Pokémon adventure is coming to Netflix next month as Ash, Goh, Dawn, and many other characters prepare for a bit of time travel. Pokemon: The Arceus Chronicles is inspired by Legends: Arceus and sees Team Galactic summon Heatran for unspecified but undoubtedly sinister reasons. The English language special is scheduled to be released on Netflix on September 23.
