Sifu Mod replaces the main character with Goro Majima

Kung Fu brawler Sifu released earlier this year and it was packed with the fast and intense hand-to-hand combat that we all have come to expect from the game’s first trailers. It’s also been the subject of a lot of modifications, some of which have gone so far to replace the main character, giving the game a completely different feel than what the developers likely intended. One example is a recent mod that allows players to recreate the fight scene between Neo and Agent Smith in The Matrix: Reloaded.

Now the main character of Sifu has been replaced by another one, and Yakuza fans will definitely want to check out this character. Everyone’s favorite Mad Dog, Goro Majima, can now be played in Sifu thanks to a new mod by developer TheMedineer. This mode can be downloaded via Nexus Mods and this Majima model can open his mouth to speak. Sure, he won’t speak in his native voice or language, but it’s still simple and elegant style reminiscent of the first Majima.

Just to make the experience more authentic, TheMedineer has also made it so you need Majima Moveset (Thug And Slugger) by developer CorvoCorvus45. Yakuza fans will probably know that both combat styles are used by Majima in Yakuza 0. The Breaker style is unfortunately missing, probably because adding breakdancing to a game like Sifu would be too difficult, but you’ll still be able to break skulls with baseball bats to your heart’s content.

If this mode makes you want to try Sifu but you are put off by the difficulty of the game, you may be happy to hear that the latest update has added difficulty options to the game. You can now either set the game to a student’s difficulty level – which makes the game easier by giving you more health and slowing your age – or challenge yourself with a master difficulty, which increases the enemy’s deal damage. Sifu is currently available for PC, PS4, and PS5.
